Store History

Rummele's Jewelry old store front

In 1889 J.A. Rummele established Rummele's Jewelry in downtown Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He soon developed a reputation for quality and integrity. Henry Spiegel, a lawyer from Chicago, purchased Rummele's in 1946. He continued the fine reputation of Rummele by becoming a Registered Jeweler with the American Gem Society (AGS). Mr Spiegel and his wife, Etha continued to operate the store for the next twenty years. In 1973 Mr. Spiegel retired and sold Rummele's to Jack Westerhof, manager of a jewelry store in Chicago. Mr. Westerhof also became a Registered Jeweler with AGS. In addition to this, he was certified in Diamond Grading through the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). He and his wife Carol continued the high quality of customer service and goods for the next twenty years.

David Pahmeier, a Manitowoc County native, was employed by Rummele's in 1982. Three years later he married Julie, the eldest child of Jack and Carol Westerhof. David continued to work along side Jack until the year 2000 when Jack and Carol retired and sold Rummele's to he and his wife Julie. Both Dave and Julie are Registered Jewelers with AGS and are certified Diamond Grading through GIA.
